Redbird Fans Have Several Ways to Support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund

NORMAL, Ill. - With the Play4Kay game quickly approaching, Redbird fans will have the opportunity to donate to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund online, or they can help raise money for the Fund by purchasing a raffle ticket for a chance to win three prize packages or by participating in a silent auction.

Fans that want to donate online can visit Once fans have reached the website, they will need to click on the `register here' tab before selecting `join a team'. Once fans are able to `join a team', they can choose Illinois State, fill out the information, make a donation and be a part of the Illinois State team.

The Student Nursing Association will run the raffle, with the support of the Mennonite College of Nursing. Those who are interested in the raffle will have a chance to win an iPad, courtesy of Frontier, or two packages. Items in each prize packages were donated by:

The item up for bid at the silent auction will be a Khenri handbag. Khenri has donated a tote-sized bag that was custom hand-painted by Khenri owner Keelia Paulsen. The tote is neon pink and has been decorated with the Play4Kay theme and logo in mind. Head Coach Stephanie Glance'sshoes that she will wear on Feb. 10th were also designed and painted by Keelia as part of her Khenri Collection.

Fans can make online donations anytime, while the raffle and silent auction will only be available to those at Sunday's game.

As a 15-year assistant coach under Kay Yow at North Carolina State, Glance is personally aware of the fight against breast cancer. Yow lost her courageous battle on Jan. 24, 2009, but Glance and Illinois State Athletics will continue the fight with a Play 4Kay game to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The purpose of the event is to raise money for women's cancer research, as well as promote awareness, while providing an event where cancer survivors can feel the support of the community and the Illinois state women's basketball team in their battle against cancer.
