NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State (4-2) women's basketball team extended its win-streak to three games, after defeating Wisconsin-Milwaukee (3-3) 75-54. The Redbirds were lead by Jamie Russell who recorded a career-high 13 rebounds, while adding 17 points. Along with Russell, Candace Sykes recorded a double-double with 16-points and 11 rebounds. Janae Smith added 18-points and five rebounds.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee opened the game with a three-point basket from Sami Tucker. The Redbirds earned their first five-points with free-throws from Smith, Russell and Sykes, 7-5. Illinois State went scoreless from the field for the first four minutes from the game, until Smith made a layup to tie the game 7-7. Chloe Nelson followed her lead and hit a jumper to put ISU ahead 9-7 with 15 minutes remaining in the half.

The Redbirds were able to extend the gap and compiled a 12-2 run with baskets from Russell and Sykes. The Panthers ended the run with a jumper from Emily Decorah, 15-11. Wisconsin-Milwaukee took advantage of two back-to-back Redbirds turnovers and tried to close the gap with a layup from Angela Rodriguez, 24-17. Russell got the `Birds back on track making a jumper with under seven minutes left to play in the half.

Maddie Oliver entered the lineup and recorded four-points along with Sykes three-point field goal to end the half.
The Redbirds were lead by Russell, with 13-points, and seven-rebounds, along with Candace Sykes who recorded eight-points and six rebounds to give the Redbirds a 40-28 lead heading into the break.

Illinois State started the second-half slow, only scoring four-points in the first five minutes of the half. The Panthers closed the gap to nine with a three-point field goal by Emily Decorah. The Redbirds answered right back with a three-point play of their own from Sykes to extend their lead to 47-37. Illinois State forced a time-out after a three-point field goal made by Alexis Jenkins to give the Birds' a 52-37 lead.

The Redbirds recorded their biggest lead of the night posting a 17-point advantage, after a basket from Jenkins to extend the lead to 58-41, with 9:37 left in the half. Wisconsin-Milwaukee went on small run to bring them within 11, with a jumper from Angela Rodriguez, 59-48. Illinois State showed no signs of slowing down after going on a 10-2 run with 4:41 left in the game, and maintained the lead through the rest of the game for a 75-54 Redbird victory.
