Redbirds Add 4-Star Recruit to its Fall 2013 Roster

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's tennis team will welcome a new player onto its roster for the fall 2013 season. Dylan Steffens is a 4-star recruit by and is the No. two recruit from the state of Missouri. Steffens is also in the top 200 nationally ranked recruits.

"We are very excited to add Dylan to our program," said head coach Cris James. "He has been a consistent winner in the juniors, is a good student and a great kid from a good family."

Steffens has won multiple national tournaments in both doubles and singles and has been a very successful over-all player throughout the Missouri Valley Conference and the nation. In the state of Missouri, he has placed second at state as a junior, fifth as a sophomore and he qualified as a freshman.

"We are also excited to be adding another player from the Midwest/Missouri Valley area as we continue to try to be one of the top programs in the region," said James.

Outside of tennis, Steffens has made the honor roll at Rockwood Summit High School every semester and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5. In the future, he intends to major in business marketing and pursue a career in the sports field.

Steffens and his family are ecstatic about this commitment to the Redbirds and look forward to what his future has in store for him and his new team.
