Redbirds Find Singles Success at Northwestern Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Illinois State men's tennis team dominated in singles action, winning three of three matches, at the Northwestern Invitational Sunday, Oct. 28 in Evanston, Ill. Today's matches conclude the tournament.

Jacob Wilson defeated Aaron Wong of Western Michigan, 6-1, 6-3, while Muddappa Appanervanda took down David Packowitz of Marquette, 6-0, 6-4. Michael Sellitto also defeated James Stark of Marquette, 6-3, 6-4.

Assistant coach J.P. Ritchie thought the `Birds performed well and was pleased with today's victories.

"The guys played very well today making it a great ending to a good week for the Redbirds," said Ritchie. "Jacob defeated a very good player from Western Michigan while Muddappa beat a player from Marquette that he lost to earlier this season."

Today's singles matches mark the end of the Northwestern Invitational. The Redbirds resume competition November 9-11 at the Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
