LANSING, Mich. - Alexander Pelaez and Erik Brunskog lost in doubles action of the quarter final round at the ITA Regional Championships Sunday Oct. 21 in Lansing, Mich. Despite today's loss, the Redbirds had a good run at the tournament, defeating some highly ranked teams.

Pelaez and Brunskog were defeated in doubles play by Talmadge and Andrew of Notre Dame, 8-5.

"The other team played well and didn't give us too many opportunities, but we also didn't really create many opportunities for ourselves either," said head coach Cris James. "I feel like the tournament was there for the taking and a lot of beatable teams are still alive so we're a little disappointed. We just didn't play as well today as we did yesterday."

James is proud of the guy's overall doubles performance this weekend.

"Alex and Erik played well this tournament considering they have only played together a few times this fall and were able to defeat some pretty good teams," said James. "It was nice for them to get a couple good wins this weekend and they should feel good about their doubles performance."

James sees some great potential in this duo and is ready to begin practice to prepare for their next competition.

"Hopefully after this weekend the guys have seen that they have the potential to be really good," said James. "Now we just need to go home and clean up a couple details that we can do a little bit better that will allow us to play at a higher level more consistently."

The Redbirds will return home this evening and begin preparing for action at the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Ill. Friday Oct. 26-28 at all day events.
