COLUMBUS, Ohio. -

The Redbirds will be competing against 20 teams from conferences such as: The BIG EAST, Big Ten, Horizon League, Midwest Atlantic, Summit League and Western Athletic.

The Redbirds have had over a week and a half of practices to get ready for this weekend's challenge. The qualifying round of 64 begins Thursday, at 8 a.m.

Head coach Mark Klysner believes his team is ready for this weekend's ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

"I know the guys have been looking forward to this weekend," Klysner said. "We have had some really good days of practice leading up and I think we are ready to play against some tough teams. We are arguably in the toughest region in the country but I think we can hang with anyone with the way we have been playing lately."

Rolando Torrellas takes on Jeffrey Schorsch of Valparaiso and Muddappa Appanervanda will be competing against Jay Joshi of Detroit in the qualifying singles round.

Jacob Wilson faces Flilip Dzanko of Depaul, while Rodrigo Oliveira plays Notre Dame's Ryan Brandy in main draw singles.

The Redbirds have two pairings competing in the main draw doubles. Oliveira and Appanervanda face Wyatt McCoy and Nicolas Montoya of Notre Dame. Torrellas and Jakub Eisner clash with Alex Pasareanu and Fedor Baev of Northwestern.

The ITA Midwest Regional Championships run all day and will take place at the Varsity Tennis Center and Racquet Club of Columbus.
