TULSA, Okla. - The Illinois State men's tennis team will compete at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., with the pre-qualifying matches slated for Sept., 28-29. The squad of six is geared up for the tournament at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Head coach Mark Klysner knows his team will be tested at this weekend's tournament. "I am looking forward to going down to the ITA All-Americans this week in Tulsa, which for almost all of our guys will be a first-time event." Klysner said.

For seniors Muddappa Appanervanda and Erik Brunskog, the ITA All-American Championships are a time to make a case for their future tennis careers, while focusing on leading the Redbirds this season.

"I'm anxious to see how the guys stack up against the best teams in the country," Klysner said. "It should be a great experience for our guys and something they can use in bettering themselves for the rest of the fall."

The ITA All-American Tournament will begin Saturday and run all day. The Qualifying matches run from Sept. 30- Oct.2, and the Main Draw matches take place, Oct. 3-6.
