Redbirds Complete Day Three of Vredevelt Invite

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Illinois State men's tennis team lost four singles matches on Sunday at the Vredevelt Invite hosted by Western Michigan. The Redbirds fought through the disappointment and were able to pull out a victory in doubles action.

Erik Brunskog was defeated by Jorg van der Vloet of Cleveland State, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8), while Jacob Wilson lost to Craig Cox of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 6-3 and 6-2. Michael Sellitto fell to Joe VanMeter of CSU, 6-4 and 6-4, and Muddappa Appanervanda was defeated by Michael Tenzer of UWGB, 6-2, 6-7 (10-8).

Despite a disappointing day in singles action, Wilson and Appanervanda defeated VanMeter and Matt Ford of CSU, 8-6, in doubles play.

Head coach Cris James was disappointed with the outcome of the today's matches, but is confident the team will be able to improve for the next competition.

"We just need to get back to work and get better for the next tournament," said James.
