Illinois State Men's Tennis Signs Ojanen
June 15, 2011
NORMAL, Ill. - Head men's tennis coach Cris James announced that Jusso Ojanen signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with Illinois State Wednesday.
Ojanen, who will enter Illinois State as a freshman, joins Willi Peter and Jacob Wilson in the Redbirds' freshmen recruiting class.
"Jusso comes to our program highly recommended," James said. "I'm told that he is at a similar level or maybe even a little better than Tuomas Manner, who earned first team All-Valley honors for us last season at No. 5 singles."
Ojanen, who hails from Varkaus, Finland, attended Koulutuskeskus Salpaus and teamed with Illinois State's Manner in junior doubles in Finland. During his junior circuit, Ojanen posted victories over players ranked No. 75, No. 105 and No. 117 in the world. His personal best world ranking is No. 423.
