NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's tennis team will travel to Wichita, Kan. Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28 to compete in the MVC Championships. The Redbirds completed the dual match season last weekend with final records of 9-14 overall and 2-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).

"I am hopeful our team will be able to put everything together this weekend and really use our talent to compete for the championship," said head coach Cris James. "We have been working on our doubles the past couple of weeks so I want to see improvement on that."

The Redbirds last competed against Creighton on Sunday, April 21 where they claimed a 7-0 win in the last season dual match. ISU will kick off this weekend's tournament against conference rival, Bradley.

"We did well against Bradley in the dual match season but it was still a pretty competitive match," said James. "It is a matter of consistency and our guys need to come out ready to play. We did not play well against Drake last weekend but we turned that around and did great against Creighton. I think our team is motivated and ready to end this season on a high note."

The MVC Championships start Friday and continue throughout the weekend at all day events.
