LINCOLN, Neb. - The Illinois State men's tennis team fell to Oklahoma State, 6-1, Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. Today's loss brings the Redbirds to an overall season record of 2-2.

In doubles action Muddappa Appanervanda and Alexander Pelaez were defeated by Rifat Biktyakov and Matt Campbell, 8-1. Erik Brunskog and Rolondo Torrellas faced Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume in an unfinished match. Jakub Eisner and Michael Sellitto fell to Oleksiy Arovin and Brady Bohrnstedt, 8-6.

"Doubles was close but we didn't play our best," said James. "No. 3 doubles was neck in neck the whole way but we just couldn't get it done in the end."

The Redbirds could not quite make a comeback in singles play. Pelaez lost in a close tiebreaker to Rifat Biktyakov, 6-2, 6-7, 12-10, in the No. 1 spot. Brunskog was defeated by Christopher Haworth, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot while Eisner fell to Denys Pume, 6-7, 6-1, 10-4, in the No. 3 position. In the No. 4 spot, Jacob Wilson was defeated by Richard Del Nunzio, 6-0, 6-1. Torrellas pulled out the only ISU singles win by taking down Matt Campbell, 6-4, 1-6, 11-9. In the No. 6 spot, Sellitto fell to Brady Bohrnstedt, 6-2, 6-1.

"Our freshmen Rollondo and Jakub came back from a rather frustrating game yesterday and played well today," said James. "There are still a few individual things we need to work on. Our younger guys need to learn a few things about competing and sustaining our level through the entire match."

ISU continues competition Feb. 9 against Cleveland State in Kalamazoo, Mich. The match it set to begin at 11 a.m.
