TULSA, Okla. - The Illinois State men's tennis team concluded the ITA Pre-Qualifying All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Monday. The Redbirds sent six players to the tournament, with one advancing to the third round.

Jacob Wilson lost today's third round matchup against Justin Carter of UMBC in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Wilson put together a successful weekend for the Redbirds, beating players from Clemson and Arizona.

Head coach Mark Klysner was proud of Wilson's play throughout the tournament.

"Jacob definitely earned his way through the draw with some hard fought matches, including a match that lasted over 3.5 hours today," Klysner said.

The Redbirds have been eliminated from pre-qualifying play, but look to build on this experience while preparing for the Ball State Invitational this coming weekend.

"Overall I think we had some good results, but there is still a lot we need to improve on for the Ball State Invite this weekend."

The Ball State Invitational runs Oct. 4-6, in Muncie, Ind. The tournament runs all day. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
