Illinois State tennis has been a part of Ed Rozboril's life since the 1960's when he played for the Redbirds. This season, it will continue as he joins the team as an assistant coach for his third season. Rozboril has coached tennis at Bloomington High School for more than 30 years. During his tenure, he has coached a number of all-state performers, who have helped lead Rozboril and his teams to the IHSA state championships 29 times. While a part of the Bloomington tennis program, the men's teams won 20 sectionals in a row and the women garnered 12 straight.
Rozboril has been an integral part in helping many of his former players participate on the collegiate level, with a number attending Illinois State. Currently two Bloomington alumni are on the Redbird roster, junior Tim Link and sophomore Oscar Beich. p This season, Rozboril's daughter Megan will be a freshman on the Redbird's women's tennis team. Megan will be Rozboril's third child to play collegiate tennis.
Rozboril hopes that he can be someone that both the players and Coach Greg Kennett can use as a resource.
"I want to be a sounding board for coach and for the players," Rozboril said. "I'll offer advice and suggestions to them and also listen to their problems so we can all be successful."
