Alfredo Lagarda returns as an assistant after spending four years as a standout player for the Redbirds.
During Lagarda's tenure as an Illinois State student-athlete, he helped the `Birds reach new heights. He was an important piece of the 2005-06 squad that captured the first Missouri Valley Conference regular season men's tennis title in Illinois State history. In his final campaign with the Redbirds Lagarda suited up at the No. 2 spot 20 times, and had a fall singles record of 11-2.
Lagarda ended his playing career at ISU with a 74-39 mark in singles and 30-24 in doubles. His 74 career singles wins ranks No. 7 all-time for career singles wins in ISU men's tennis history.
