Redbirds Look to Bounce Back After Tough First Day at Kansas Invitational

Lawrence, Kan. - The Illinois State men's golf team will look to rebound on day two after firing a team total of 628 (315, 313) and finishing in 16th after day one of the Kansas Invitational at the Alvamar Golf Club.
Junior Ben Murphy was the only Redbird to crack the top-50 following a two-round-total of 628 (79, 74). True freshman Will Cullen recorded a two-round-total of 157 (80, 77) in his first day of collegiate action.
Head coach Ray Kralis hopes his Redbirds can turn things around on day two.
"Today was an extremely tough day for us," said Kralis. "Our guys had high expectations and unfortunately we are just not scoring well. Hopefully we can learn from today and have a much better day tomorrow."
Kansas leads the 18-team event after firing a two-round-team-total of 590 (298, 292). Houston's Jordan Irwin leads tournament individually after recording a two-round-total of 144 (74, 70).
The Kansas Invitational concludes Tuesday, Sept. 18th with the final round of 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m.
