June 11, 2012

NORMAL, Ill. - Josh Edison will continue his education and golf career at Illinois State, after transferring from Northern Illinois, as announced by head men's golf coach Ray Kralis Monday.

"I am very familiar with Josh, after recruiting him heavily out of high school," Kralis said. "He is the total package and a great addition to our squad. He brings a toughness and competitiveness that I love as a coach, and he has had a tremendous amount of success in high school and on the national and state junior level that will serve him well as a Redbird."

At Northern Illinois, Edison competed in the Northern Intercollegiate at Harvest Rich Farms, carding a low round of 73. In summer competition, he won the Pepsi Little Peoples Championship in 2008 and finished 21st at the 2010 Callaway Junior World Golf Championship with a low round of 71.

A four-year varsity letterman at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, Edison was the runner-up at the 2010 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Tournament. He tied for 10th and for 15th at the IHSA State tournament in 2009 and 2008, respectively. The Springfield, Ill., native won five individual titles during his high school senior season, including medalist honors at the Regional and Sectional. During his high school career, Edison also captured three Central State Eight Conference individual titles and was named the State Journal-Register Central State Eight Boys Golfer of the Year in 2007-08.
