May 22, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - Turner Reid (Normal, Ill. | Normal West High School) will continue his academic and athletic careers at Illinois State, as announced by head men's golf coach Ray Kralis Wednesday.

"Turner is the type of young man you want in your program, as he epitomizes what it takes to be a student-athlete," Kralis said. "He has a huge upside, and I believe he will make big strides as a Redbird, because he is motivated and disciplined with a strong work ethic. We have all the tools in place for golfers to develop their games, and I am confident that he will take full advantage of this opportunity and impact our squad."

Reid, a Normal West product, was the Big 12 Conference Champion as a junior and a senior. Reid also won three individual tournaments as a senior and finished in the top-six individually in all of the tournaments he competed in as a senior. The high school Valedictorian qualified and competed in the 2012 State Amateur Tournament. Reid also competed in the 2011 and 2012 Illinois Class 3A State Finals and has scored a tournament record of 66 at the Den at Fox Creek.

Reid completes the 2013-14 class, as he joins Christian Crabill and Kyle Meihofer. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, WSF gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
