March 22, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will head to Little Rock, Ark., to compete in the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic Monday and Tuesday at the Chenal Country Golf Club.

Coming off a fourth-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational, the Redbirds look to build on their momentum heading into the upcoming tournament.

"I am very encouraged by our recent performances and know they have helped grow confidence and belief in ourselves and each other, which is so critical in this game," head coach Ray Kralis said. " We are coming off a great finish at Primm Valley and a productive week of preparation over spring break, and I look for us to continue improving individually and collectively as we go forward."

Junior Wils Hawn will compete in the No.1 spot followed by seniors Ricky Hearden and Matt Solis, competing in the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.

Rounding out the lineup for the Redbirds is freshman Tyler Gentilella, competing in the No.4 spot, and junior Parker Freiburg, who is competing in the No. 5 spot. Senior Matt Hageman will compete as an individual throughout the tournament.

Play will begin Monday with 36-holes followed by the final 18-holes Tuesday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, WSF gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
