NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men’s golf team will take part in the 18-team Samford Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,001 yard Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Ala., Monday and Tuesday.

Competing for the Redbirds will be senior Eric Meier, junior Ricky Hearden, junior Wils Hawn, junior Parker Freiburg and freshman Jordan Fahel.

Head men’s golf coach Ray Kralis continues to see progress with his team.

“I like the direction our squad is moving,” Kralis said. “We continue to focus on managing ourselves and our expectations. We have to stay disciplined with our pre-shot and post-shot routines to give us the best chance for success on each and every shot. If we do that, it will add up well in the end. We know the game challenges you every round, so we need to ride the highs and bounce back quickly from adversity.”

The Samford Intercollegiate field will feature Air Force, Austin Peay, Belmont, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Houston Baptist, Murray State, Nicholls State, Samford, Sam Houston State, SIU-Edwardsville, Southern Illinois, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina and Winthrop.

Play will begin with a shotgun start on Monday at 8:00 a.m.
