Men's Golf Ends Fall Season in 6th at the Red Wolves Fall Beach Classic
Nov. 6, 2012
GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Illinois State men's golf team finished 6th at the Red Wolves Fall Beach Classic Tuesday. The Redbirds carded a three-round score of 910 (310-303-297), to finish the fall season.
To cap off the fall season, ISU makes a huge turnaround gaining great momentum leading into the fall break.
"We showed we can compete with the field posting the second best team score of the day to move up six spots just two back of the top five, but we need to be more consistent in each round," head coach Ray Kralis said. "The fields are too good to spot teams multiple shots with disappointing opening rounds, but that was our struggle through much of the fall. With the talent we have, I am confident we will move forward over the off-season and correct that problem for the spring. We have seen glimpses of our potential, and I remain very optimistic that our best is yet to come."
Rounding out the lineup for the Redbirds was senior Ricky Hearden, who fired a three-round score of 232(79-77-76), two strokes better than freshman Tyler Gentilella, who fired a tournament score of 234 (80-75-79).
Illinois State will resume play Jan.26 to compete at the Tinervin Cup in Placida, Fla.
