CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Illinois State men's golf season came to an end Tuesday, after finishing in second place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Dalhousie Golf Club. The Redbirds were led by junior Kyle Bragg, who fired a 2-under-par 70 in the final round and finished the 54-hole event in third place.

The Redbirds posted a three-round total of 897 (303-301-293) and secured second place, which trailed Wichita State by 15 strokes. Bragg carded a 6-over-par 222 (70-82-70), earning him a third-place finish while Tommy Bliefnick finished the tournament tied for fourth place after tallying a 9-over-par 225 (77-75-73).

"Wichita was a better team this weekend," said head coach Ray Kralis. "We played solid golf all year and it would have been nice to come out of here with a win and advance, but it doesn't take anything away from what we accomplished this year. Our squad finished the year 29-1-1 against conference teams this year and it's unfortunate that one loss came this weekend."

Joe Emerich carded a 1-over-par 73 in the final round and ended the event in 16th place (81-76-73--230). Will Cullen earned a share of 17th place after a three-round total of 231 (80-71-80), while Jeff Kellen shot a 232 (76-79-77) and claimed 19th place.

Wichita State won the event after shooting 295-296-291--882 on the par-72, while Dustin Garza (73-71-72--216) and Connor McHenry (73-73-70--216), also of Wichita State, took individual honors.
