The Illinois State men's golf team finished fourth at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev., firing a team score of 861 (297-286-278) Tuesday at the Primm Valley Desert Course. The Redbirds were led by senior Ricky Hearden, who finished tied for 10th place, carding a three-round score of 3-under-par 213 (69-71-73).

The Redbirds were able to push ahead with a great team effort, making them the top finishers of the four competing Missouri Valley Conference schools.

"It was a great start to the day, as the guys picked up five shots in the closing holes of round two to move us up the leaderboard," head coach Ray Kralis said. "We needed to build some momentum this week, and the guys delivered. We were more consistent with under par team scores in the last two rounds, and everyone contributed during the event."

Junior Parker Freiburg, who tallied a final score of 217 (76-72-69), finished four strokes behind Hearden and ended the invitational in a tie for 20th place. Senior Matt Solis (80-69-71) and freshman Tyler Gentilella (72-78-70) both fired a score of 220. Rounding out the lineup for the Redbirds was junior Wils Hawn, who had a three-round score of 222 (80-74-68) to end the tournament.

Competing as an individual was sophomore Josh Edison, who fired a three-round score of 230 (74-75-81), followed by freshman Tyler Pope-Ferguson, who carded a final score of 234 (80-77-77).
