Redbirds Fall Short to Illinois at Tinervin Cup
Jan. 26, 2013
PLACIDA, Fla. - The Illinois State men's golf team began the spring 2013 season on a slow start falling 0-3 in the morning matches against Illinois at the Tinervin Cup Saturday.
Although play performance was not up to par, head coach Ray Kralis believes that his team needs to take advantage of the missed opportunities.
"While there were some bright spots in the afternoon, we were collectively outplayed by a strong Illini squad," said Kralis. "The outcome is not the only focal point for me. More importantly, how did we respond to adversity and the quality of golf they threw at us? We need to be more focused on the things we can control and not let those things out of our control influence our play. We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard all the way through the round, but we will learn from this and get better going forward."
The Redbirds will be back on the course February 18, to compete at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nevada
