Watch Coach Spack's Weekly Press Conference LIVE!
Nov. 17, 2009
NORMAL, Ill. - A winning season is on the line for Illinois State when the Redbirds take on Northern Iowa in the regular-season finale Saturday at Hancock Stadium. Saturday’s game will also be the last for 13 seniors, who will be honored prior to the game against the Panthers. Head coach Brock Spack will preview the upcoming contest with UNI and will break down last week’s loss at Youngstown State in his final press luncheon of the season at the Kaufman Football Building Tuesday at Noon.
A pair of Redbird seniors will be player guests at the conference. Wide receiver Eyad Salem and defensive end Doni Phelps will offer their insights on the Panthers and will also give their thoughts on playing their final game at ISU. Salem needs just four receptions to break the single-season school record of 86 set by Laurént Robinson in 2005. With his 83 catches for 869 yards, Salem also ranks third nationally in receptions per game (8.30) and is 12th in yards per game (86.90). Phelps has been the big playmaker on the defensive line for the Redbirds with a team-leading seven sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss to go along with 30 tackles. Phelps is currently tied for 24th in the nation in sacks per game (.70).
The press conference will begin at noon with the players’ comments and will be streamed live on GoRedbirds.com. The live video is free to watch on Redbird All-Access, the Illinois State Athletics Department's exclusive multimedia platform.
