Blow Named Valley Football Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Junior running back Geno Blow received Illinois State's first weekly conference honor of the 2008 season Sunday when he was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week by the league office.
Blow led the Redbird rushing attack, which collectively scored five touchdowns and accumulated 235 yards on the ground, in Illinois State's 42-23 victory at Murray State last Saturday.
The Seabrook, Texas native finished with 98 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 20 carries. With the 98 yards, Blow surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in his Illinois State career. He currently ranks No. 33 in Redbird history with 1,028 career rushing yards.
With Illinois State leading 14-10 in the third quarter, Blow helped put the Redbirds in control against Murray State with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. He added his second touchdown of the game with an 18-yard run at the 3:57 mark in the fourth quarter.
The weekly honor is the first in Blow's career. Blow and the Redbirds return to action Saturday, as Illinois State hosts Eastern Illinois in its home opener.
