ESPN Networks To Feature Seven ISU Men's Basketball Games

Oct. 4, 2012

ST. LOUIS - Illinois State fans across the country will have at least seven opportunities to watch the Redbird men's basketball team on the ESPN family of networks during the 2012-13 regular season. ISU will be featured on ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3, as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference office Thursday. Additionally, two Redbird women's basketball games are scheduled to air on ESPN3.

"ESPN's commitment to the Valley is evident by the quantity and diversity of this package of telecasts," MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin said. "ESPN provides a national stage for our sports. And the creation and continued expansion of ESPNU as a national platform and the emergence of ESPN3 only heightens the amount of national exposure for our league."

Illinois State's ESPN coverage begins with its Jan. 2 home game against Creighton, which will air on ESPN3. The Redbirds will also be broadcast on ESPN3 during their Jan. 16 contest at Wichita State. ISU's Jan. 20 game at Southern Illinois will either air on ESPNU or ESPN3, and the Jan. 26 home matchup against Evansville, followed by the Jan. 29 rivalry game at Bradley, can be watched on ESPN3.

The Redbirds are slated to be televised nationally on ESPN2 and ESPN3 during their Feb. 9 road trip at Creighton, while ESPNU will broadcast ISU's Feb. 17 home game against Wichita State. ISU's BracketBusters game on Feb. 22-23 might also be shown on the ESPN family of networks, but that will not be announced until the end of January.

Illinois State could grab further national television coverage during the post-season, with the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN3 during the opening round, quarterfinals and semifinals. The tournament's championship game will once again air on CBS.

The ISU women's basketball team can also be seen on ESPN3 on Jan. 4 versus Northern Iowa and on Feb. 1 at Wichita State. The Redbird men's basketball season begins with a home exhibition game against Quincy on Nov. 5, with live coverage available on Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
