ST. LOUIS - Three Illinois State men's basketball regular-season games and at least two Redbird women's basketball regular-season contests will air live on the Missouri Valley Conference Television Network during the upcoming 2013-14 season, as announced by the league office Friday.
MVC TV games will once again be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana, FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX College Sports and ESPN3, baring clearance issues. Niles Media Group of Kansas City will serve as the production company.
"Our television network has made great strides since we made the decision to bring its operation in-house, beginning with the 1993-94 academic year," MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin said. "From modest beginnings, we now produce all of our network men's and women's basketball contests in high definition, televise all nine games from the men's basketball tournament and continue to air the title contests from six additional championships, including our women's basketball tournament."
ISU will make its first MVC TV appearance Jan. 11, when the men's basketball team hosts in-state rival Loyola at 7:05 p.m., in the first-ever Valley meeting between the two programs (according to The Valley, the Jan. 11 game will be cleared on an alternate Comcast SportsNet Chicago channel). On Feb. 14, the Redbird women's basketball home game against Evansville will also air on the network at 7:05 p.m.
MVC TV will then broadcast the Feb. 15 men's home game versus I-74 rival Bradley at 6:05 p.m., followed by a Feb. 21 road matchup between the ISU women and Wichita State, beginning at 7 p.m. The men's Feb. 23 trip to Northern Iowa at 4 p.m., can also be seen on MVC TV.
In addition, the Redbird women's team could be featured during the MVC Wildcard Day, Feb. 27. The men's basketball Valley Tournament opening rounds, quarterfinals and semifinals will also air on MVC TV, along with the women's Valley Tournament semifinals and championship games. The men's title game can be watched once again on CBS.
MVC TV is also scheduled to broadcast the MVC women's soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball championships. Meanwhile, Illinois State's institutional basketball television package will be announced at a later date.
The ISU women start the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game Nov. 3 against Northwest Missouri State at 1:05 p.m., and the men begin later that afternoon in an exhibition matchup versus Quincy at 4:35 p.m. The exhibition double-header will take place on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena, and live video coverage will be available for both games on RedbirdHD.tv.
Every men's and women's basketball game this season will also be broadcast on the WJBC Country Financial Illinois State Radio Network and heard on smart phones via the iHeart Radio app. Season tickets are on sale now by calling the Redbird Arena ticket office at (309) 438-8000 or by clicking here.
