Redbird Radio Network Adds Decatur's WDZ-AM 1050 The Fan

July 24, 2009

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State football and men's basketball game broadcasts will return to the Decatur air waves for the first time in nearly a decade, as Redbird Athletics and WDZ-AM 1050 "The Fan" signed a partnership adding the Neuhoff Media station as an affiliate of the Redbird Radio Network.

"We are really excited about renewing an old relationship with WDZ, and hope to continue the partnership for years to come," said ISU Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger. "We have a number of alumni and fans in the Decatur area and with the support of Mark Hanson, Aric Lee and the rest of the WDZ staff, coverage and promotion of Redbird Athletics will be available."

WDZ will carry select Illinois State football games and the majority of the Redbird men's basketball season. A final broadcast schedule will be issued at a later date.

"We are happy to be re-united with the Illinois State Redbird Radio Network," said Hanson. "I think with WDZ 1050's new addition of ESPN Sports and the Redbird Network, we've now given all of Central Illinois' sports listeners something to talk about. Go Redbirds!"

Other Redbird Radio Network stations include WJBC-AM 1230 in Bloomington (flagship), WJEZ-FM 98.9 in Dwight and WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield, while negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
