Jan. 25, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - In conjunction with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the Illinois State Athletics Department is now selling Play4Kay merchandise at all home men's and women's basketball games, beginning Friday as the women host Missouri Valley Conference rival Indiana State at 7:05 p.m.

T-shirts and shorts will be on sale on the east concourse through the women's basketball Play4Kay game on Feb. 10 against Creighton at 2:05 p.m. T-shirts are $30, while shorts are $35. All proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Fund is a charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.

As a 15-year assistant coach under Kay Yow at North Carolina State, Illinois State women's basketball head coach Stephanie Glance is personally aware of the fight against breast cancer. Yow lost her courageous battle on Jan. 24, 2009, but Glance and Illinois State Athletics will continue the fight with a Play 4Kay game to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The purpose of the event is to raise money for women's cancer research, as well as promote awareness, while providing an event where cancer survivors can feel the support of the community and the Illinois state women's basketball team in their battle against cancer.
