Redbird Baseball Set To Open Fall World Series
2012 Fall World Series Rosters September 26, 2012 NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team will open its annual Fall World Series at 6 p.m., Thursday night, at Duffy Bass Field. The event will consist of three seven-inning intra-squad scrimmages, with game two starting at 5 p.m., Friday, and the finale at noon, Saturday. "The Fall World Series should be a nice conclusion to our fall workouts," head coach Mark Kingston said. "The players have worked hard and we have seen a lot of good things. I am excited to see them compete and finish strong." The coaching staff has divided the full 36-man roster into a Red team and a Black team. This year's squad returns 19 players from a team that won 33 games in 2012. Additionally, 14 newcomers have been added to the roster. Thursday night's game will include a live internet-only audio broadcast exclusively available on www.GoRedbirds.com. Illinois State play-by-play announcer Ronan O'Shea will have the call, with former ISU closer Kenny Long sitting in for a multi-inning interview. Long was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 22nd round of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft and recently completed his first season in professional baseball. The official ISU baseball Twitter account, @REDBIRDbaseball, will provide updates and behind-the-scenes photos and content all weekend long.
