NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team continued fall practice this week, balancing 6:00 a.m. weight lifting sessions with afternoon team practices at Duffy Bass Field.

"This is an important phase of our development both individually and as a team," head coach Mark Kingston said. "It is a great chance for us to evaluate the new guys and see what the returning guys have improved on. The fall is very important because you put the new guys and the old guys together, see what we need to improve on as a team and then take it into the winter session."

Practices have focused heavily on team-wide fundamentals drills, giving pitchers, catchers, fielders and base runners an opportunity to hone their skills. Additionally, the team has time slotted daily for batting practice and bullpen pitching sessions.

The fall practice schedule includes Thursday through Saturday intra-squad scrimmages, highlighted by the Fall World Series, Sept. 27-29 at Duffy Bass Field.
