NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's Eric Aguilera, Jeremy Rhoades and Zac Johnson all appeared in summer collegiate all-star games Tuesday night, highlighting successful summers in wooden bat summer leagues. Rhodes and Johnson starred in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game in Amsterdam, N.Y., while Aguilera appeared in the Northwoods League All-Star Game in Madison, Wisc.
Aguilera finished the day 2-3 with one run scored, leading the South Division to a 4-3 victory. Rhodes represented Team Griffin and pitched one scoreless inning with two strike outs, while Johnson started at third base for Team Ebright and drew a pair of walks. All three players will return to ISU in August and be instrumental pieces to the 2013 Redbirds baseball team.
In affiliated Minor League Baseball, former Illinois State pitcher Ryan Copeland made his first appearance since undergoing thoracic outlet decompression surgery during spring training. He is currently rehabilitating for the in the St. Louis Cardinals organization with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.
