Hollenbeck Named Schuster Family Endowment Recipient
July 19, 2013
NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head baseball coach Mark Kingston awarded senior catcher Mike Hollenbeck the Schuster Family Endowed Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year, for his dedication on the field of play and in the classroom.
The Schuster Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2009 to honor Andrew Schuster, a four-year letterwinner in baseball for the Redbirds, and Danielle Miller-Schuster, a member of the Redline Express. The scholarship was established by Robert and LaNita Schuster, and is presented annually to a junior or senior member of the Illinois State baseball team.
"Mike is very deserving of this recognition," Kingston said. "He has developed on and off the field in his time at Illinois State. I believe he is positioned well to have a great senior season. With Andy Schuster being a former catcher, this is a perfect match."
Hollenbeck was named a First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2013, after batting .296/.377/.344 in 54 games for the Redbirds. The Joliet, Ill., native launched one home run, tallied 26 RBI, collected six doubles and scored 32 runs while posting a .992 fielding percentage as Illinois State's primary catcher.
The Schuster Family Endowed Scholarship is one of 24 endowed scholarships available to Illinois State student-athletes that are funded by private donors. For more information about establishing an endowed scholarship, please call the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund office at (309) 438-3803.
