Illinois State enters play at 9-3 in the MVC.

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State (29-16, 9-3 MVC) returns to action Friday night at Duffy Bass Field for game one of a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Creighton. First pitch Friday is slated for 5:00 p.m., Saturday will start at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday will be a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. Admission is free for all three games.
The Redbirds, who stand alone in first place in the Missouri Valley Conference with only three lossses, are riding the second-longest winning streak in program history, having won 10-consecutive games. The 1976 Illinois State baseball team won a program-record 11-straight games. ISU has won six-consecutive MVC tilts, sweeping Bradley and Indiana State in a pair of three-game sets over the last two weekends.
Creighton (24-11, 8-4 MVC) enters play riding a three-game MVC winning streak. The Bluejays swept Southern Illinois, April 19-21, before playing a slate of non-conference games last weekend.

The Opposition: Creighton University Bluejays (26-7, 16-2 MVC)
Creighton University is a private, Roman Catholic university located in Omaha, Nebraska.
Established in 1878, Creighton University currently enrolls 7,730 students.
Creighton has been members of the Missouri Valley Conference since 1976, but announced on March
23 that they will be joining the Big East this July.
The Bluejays are guided by veteran head coach Ed Servais. Servais, a Wisconsin-La Crosse graduate,
is 351-206 in 10 seasons at Creighton. He has a 533-288-1 overall record in 19 seasons as a NCAA
Division I head coach.
Since 1967, Creighton has made 10 NCAA postseason appearances and earned one visit to the
College World Series (1991).
Despite a 28-30 regular season in 2012, the Bluejays won the Missouri Valley Conference
Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regional in Los Angeles, California.
The Redbirds trail the all-time series, 34-71, and have lost fi ve of the last six contests with the Bluejays.
Last Time Out
The Redbirds swept a pair of midweek games versus NCAA Division III opponents this week. Tuesday,
Illinois State defeated Illinois Wesleyan 15-5 in seven innings. On Wednesday, freshman right-hander
Steve Heilenbach came within three outs of the fi rst perfect game in Illinois State baseball history, as
the Redbirds defeated Webster 10-0 in seven innings. Heilenbach allowed no runs on one hit and fi red a
complete-game on just 60 pitches. It marked the fi rst victory of his collegiate career.
Paced by nine hits from leadoff hitter Brett Kay, the Redbirds completed a three-game sweep of Bradley
last weekend in Peoria, Ill. Chris Razo fi red a shutout Friday as ISU won, 4-0. Kay's bases-clearing triple
highlighted a 9-5 comeback win Saturday, and the Redbirds held on to win 8-5 Sunday.
Kay Named MVC Player of the Week
Senior infielder Brett Kay paced the Illinois State offense last week, hitting a robust .632/.696/.842 with
two doubles, one triple and six RBI. Kay was inserted in the leadoff spot Friday versus Bradley and had a
nine-hit weekend against the Braves. Kay's bases-clearing three-run triple in the eighth inning Saturday at
Bradley, gave Illinois State its first lead of the game. The Redbirds trailed 5-0 after fi ve innings and went on
to win 9-5. Kay added one stolen base, drew two walks and was hit by two pitches.
