NORMAL, Ill. - Riding a season-best five-game winning streak, the Illinois State Redbirds (19-15, 3-3 MVC) host in-state foe, Illinois (22-10, 5-4 Big Ten), Tuesday night for a non-conference game at Duffy Bass Field. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m.
The Redbirds come into play averaging nearly six runs-per-game and are hitting .288/.371/.398 as a team. ISU has a team ERA of 4.02 and have tallied nearly seven strike outs per-game.
Illinois is averaging 6.6 runs-per-game and enter play hitting .306/.381/.430. They have a 3.77 ERA and are guided by head coach Dan Hartleb.

The University of Illinois is located in Champaign, Ill. The public university is the second-oldest public
school in the state (behind Illinois State University) and was established in 1867. Illinois currently
enrolls 42,606 students.
The Fighting Illini have been members of the Big Ten Conference since 1896.
Illinois is the " rst of two Big Ten schools ISU will play this season (at Purdue, 4/23). The contest earlier
this season in Champaign was rained out (3/26).
The Fighting Illini are guided by head coach Dan Hartleb, who is in his eighth season at the
helm of the Illinois baseball program. The Illini won the Big Ten regular-season and tournament
championships in 2011. That team advanced to the NCAA Fullerton Regional.
Illinois swept Purdue last weekend in Champaign, but lost a midweek game versus EIU, 4/9.
Tuesday's game marks the 78th all-time meeting between these two programs, with the " rst meeting
haven taken place in 1904. The Redbirds are 32-55 all-time versus the Illini and the two teams split
the season-series last season.
Last Time Out
Illinois State continued its hot play at home, winning all five non-conference games last week. The Redbirds defeated NIU, 9-3, Tuesday night, as freshman left-hander Will Headean secured his first-career victory. The Redbirds received back-to-back complete-games from Chris Razo and Dan Savas to win the first two games versus Morehead State over the weekend. ISU pulled off a 9-7 victory in game two of a double header Saturday and Eric Aguilera's walk-off RBI-single ended the game Sunday, 5-4. Illinois State is a season-best four games over .500 and are 7-1 on the current 12-game home stand.
