Redbirds, Morehead State Open Four-Game Set

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State (15-15, 3-3 MVC) plays its final non-conference weekend series, welcoming Morehead State (9-23, 4-12 OVC) to Duffy Bass Field for a four-game series, April 12-14. The series begins Friday with a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
The Redbirds won a series against Missouri State last weekend at Duffy Bass Field. Chris Razo fired a complete-game one-hitter Friday, Dan Savas went eight innings aa the Redbirds blanked the Bears Saturday, and Missouri State won the series-finale Sunday. ISU won its lone midweek game, 9-3, over in-state foe Northern Illinois Tuesday night. Wednesday's game versus MacMurray has been postponed to April 24.
The Eagles visit Normal having lost eight-consecutive games and 14 of their last 16 overall. MSU averages 4.5 runs-per-game and is hitting .265/.342/.372 collectively. The Eagles own a team ERA of 6.06 and opponents are batting .304 versus their pitching staff. Morehead State is guided by first-year head coach Mike McGuire.
The Redbirds are batting .279/.359/.387 as a team and are averaging 5.5 runs-per-game. The pitching staff has an ERA of 4.24 in 261.0 innings and have struck out 212 batters.
Razo Named MVC Pitcher of the Week
Razo fired his first-career complete game, striking out a career-high 10 as Illinois State defeated Missouri State ace Nick Petree, 2-1. Razo walked four and allowed just one hit, snapping a two-game Redbird losing streak and setting the tone for ISU's series-win versus the Bears. Razo, who opened the season 4-4 in save chances as the Redbird closer, has made three starts in 2013, earning two victories and a no-decision.
