Redbirds Host In-State Foes Northern Illinois, MacMurray

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State remains at Duffy Bass Field to continue a 13-game home stand, hosting Northern Illinois and MacMurray, April 9-10. Both non-conference games begin at 6:00 p.m and admission is free.
The Redbirds (14-15, 3-3 MVC) won a series against Missouri State last weekend at Duffy Bass Field. Chris Razo fired a complete-game one-hitter Friday, Dan Savas went eight innings aa the Redbirds blanked the Bears Saturday, and Missouri State won the series-finale Sunday.
Northern Illinois (11-18, 6-3 MVC) visits Normal winners of seven of its last 10 baseball games. The Huskies are managed by Ed Mathy, who is in his 11th season at the helm of the Huskies baseball program.
MacMurray is a Division III baseball program that has lost nine-consecutive games. They are led by Andrew Bartman.
The Redbirds return to action hitting .280/.357/.390 with 16 home runs, 48 doubles and 7 triples. ISU posts a 4.29 ERA and has tallied 206 strike outs in 252.0 innings.
Razo Named MVC Pitcher of the Week
Razo fired his first-career complete game, striking out a career-high 10 as Illinois State defeated Missouri State ace Nick Petree, 2-1. Razo walked four and allowed just one hit, snapping a two-game Redbird losing streak and setting the tone for ISU’s series-win versus the Bears. Razo, who opened the season 4-4 in save chances as the Redbird closer, has made three starts in 2013, earning two victories and a no-decision.
