Pride and Passion Day at Redbird Baseball

NORMAL, Ill. – In honor of the Pride and Passion exhibit at Illinois State University’s Milner Library, Redbird baseball is hosting “Pride and Passion Day” at Duffy Bass Field on Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m., in recognition of the history of the baseball Negro Leagues, while it takes on conference rival Bradley.  

Starting at 1 p.m., members of the Negro Leagues will be in attendance to share the history of the league with ISU fans, followed by Ernie L. Westfield throwing out the first pitch. Westfield played for the Cubs organization in 1958 and served as the starting pitcher of the last East-West All-Star game in 1960 at Comiskey Park, in Chicago, Ill.

The Pride and Passion exhibit at Milner Library is a national traveling panel exhibit from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The exhibit will reside at ISU until Friday, May 11.
