WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - After snapping a six-game losing streak with a 14-3 victory over Belmont Sunday, the Illinois State Redbirds return to action with a three-game weekend set at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Tournament in Winter Haven, Fla. The Redbirds play LIU Brooklyn, Miami University and Fairfield, March 8-10. First pitch Friday is slated for 4:00 p.m. CST.

Illinois State enters play at 3-6 overall, having spent the first three weekends of the 2013 season in Tennessee. Illinois State took two-of-three from Memphis opening weekend, before being swept at Austin Peay. ISU took the third-and-final game of a weekend series at Belmont last weekend. The Redbirds are guided by fourth-year head coach Mark Kingston, who has amassed at least 30 wins in each of his first three seasons at the helm of the ISU baseball program.

The Redbirds are led offensively by Eric Aguilera. The Cary, Ill., native leads the Redbirds in average (.432), on-base percentage (.450), slugging percentage (.595), hits (16) and RBI (13). Zac Johnson has a team-best two home runs, while Kyle Stanton has four doubles. Chad Hinshaw is a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen bases. Chris Razo leads the bullpen with 5.1 scoreless innings and two saves. He has eight strike outs to three walks.

ISU will throw three underclassmen this weekend, starting with redshirt sophomore Dan Savas (0-0, 3.77 ERA) Friday. He will face LIU Brooklyn ace Justin Topa (0-2, 7.71 ERA). Saturday, Will Headean (0-2, 4.26) seeks his first collegiate victory against Miami’s Brooks Fiala (0-2, 6.23 ERA). Dylan Craig (0-1, 8.31 ERA) gets the nod on Sunday versus a yet to be determined pitcher for Fairfield.
