Three Redbirds Earn College Sports Madness Preseason All-MVC Honors

NORMAL, Ill. - Outfielder Eric Aguilera and infielder Zac Johnson were named Monday to the College Sports Madness 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason All-Conference first team. Outfielder Chad Hinshaw earned second-team honors.

Aguilera appeared in all 52 games in 2012, batting .330/.355/.483 with a team-leading seven home runs. The Cary, Ill., native earned All-Missouri Valley Conference first team honors.

Johnson made 50 starts in 2012, hitting .323/.396/.516 with six home runs and a team-best 15 doubles. The Heartland Community College transfer is a Bloomington, Ill., product.

Hinshaw, who bats leadoff, hit .248/.442/.382 in 2012. He successfully stole 23-of-26 (88%) bases and played error-free defense in center field.

The 24-man roster was selected by staff members at College Sports Madness. Illinois State opens the 2013 regular season, Feb 15, at Memphis.
