CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Brad Fieger tallied three doubles and drove in five runs to lead No. 29 Miami (14-5, 1-2 ACC) to a 9-2 victory over Illinois State (6-8, 0-0 MVC) Wednesday night at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The Redbirds finish their spring break Florida road trip with a 3-2 record, including a split in South Florida.

Fieger paced a 12-hit Miami attack, as the Hurricanes collected two, three-run innings. Chris Barr reached base four times and Alex Hernandez totaled two hits for Miami. Chad Hinshaw and Eric Aguilera each had three hits for the Redbirds, who were out-hit on the day, 12-8.

Bryan Radziewski (2-0) earned his second victory of the season, allowing one earned run in five innings of work with five strike outs. JD Learnard (0-1) pitched three innings for Illinois State, allowing three earned runs on four hits. He walked five batters in defeat.

The Hurricanes scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch and RBI from Alex San Juan and Garrett Kennedy.

The Redbirds got one run back in the top of the third when Aguilera grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Daniel Dwyer from third base.

Learnard left the game after three innings and was replaced by freshman Jack Landwehr. Fieger launched a two-out, run-scoring double off Landwehr to make it 4-1 Miami. Landwehr also worked a scoreless fifth inning.

The Redbirds added a run in the sixth inning off relief pitcher Frank Grandinette. Hinshaw singled and advanced to third on Aguilera's double off the wall in right. Kyle Stanton's RBI-fielder's choice scored Hinshaw. Miami then called upon left-hander Thomas Woodrey, who struck out Zac Johnson to end the Illinois State threat. The Redbirds would not score again.

Miami tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and two more in the eighth inning to put the game away.
