Head Coach Jim Brownlee's quotes on the APSU game

Feb. 23, 2006

Recap |  Box Score

Brownlee on the loss:

"It's the toughest kind of loss when you had a chance to win the game and it's disappointing. When you get chances to score, you have to take advantages of those opportunities. Even though we left 13 guys on base, we still had a chance to get the victory but just couldn't record that 27th out."

Brownlee on the pitching:

"Coming out of the chute, I think Kitt (Kopach) pitched outstanding and gave us a shot to win the game. But, when the bullpen does not throw strikes, it's hard to close out the game. You're not going to beat anyone when you walk people, and the eight walks hurt us today."

On his team's offense:

"I think we are going to have a very good offensive team and the 12 hits today showed that. When you have six players each record an RBI, then you know everyone is trying to contribute to the team. But, offense alone does not win games and we have to pitch better."

On tomorrow's game against Dayton:

"We just have to put this one behind us and learn from it. Dayton is a good team and we cannot afford to lose another game like this early in the season. We just have to focus and keep doing the little things to win and we have to throw strikes most importantly."
