Redbird Men No. 8; Women No. 12 in Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - Third-place finishes at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday positioned the Illinois State women's cross country team to take the No. 12 position in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Midwest Regional Poll, while the Redbird men remain at No. 8, as announced by the NCAA Division I Cross U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Monday.

At the Valley Cross Country Championships, Illinois State was the only school to place both teams in the top-three. On the men's side ISU ran a competitive race getting all five point scores across the finish line in the top-17, with sophomore Matt Mroczynski leading the field and crossing the finish line in second place with a time of 24:43.22.

On the women's side, the ISU women were able to get all five point scorers across the finish line in the top-24. Sophomore Michelle Brunk led the Redbird charge covering the 5K course in a personal-best 18:09.46 to place 10th.

The Midwest Regional Championships are up next for the Redbirds as they head to Stillwater, Okla., Nov. 15.
