Stephanie Barnes

Stephanie Barnes joined the Illinois State track and field/cross country team in 2010 as a graduate assistant in charge of pole vault. Barnes graduated from Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in kinesiology in 2007.
While at UW-Eau Claire, she served as the Blugold's men's and women's cross country/track and field assistant coach. During the track and field season, Barnes was the head men and women's pole vault coach. She helped with creating workouts and drills during practice times, as well as making strength and conditioning schedules for her student-athletes.
She also served as the assistant track and field coach at Sauk Prairie High School. Barnes taught fundamental training and technique work with the pole vaulters.
As a competitor herself, she was a two-time NCAA Division III Champion in the pole vault and a six-time NCAA Division III Pole Vault All-American. Barnes holds the indoor and outdoor pole vault records at UW-Eau Claire. Her success in sports carried over to success in the classroom, as she graduated Magna cum Laude and was an eight-time NCAA Academic All-American.
