Jensen and Krapf Named to All-Academic Team

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State track and field student-athletes Scott Krapf and Curtis Jensen were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2010 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team Thursday afternoon. The honor recognizes student-athletes' accomplishments athletically and academically.

"These two are smart young men who excel both in the classroom and on the field and that is why they are being recognized by the USTFCCCA," said head track and field coach Elvis Forde. "They are able to focus on their academics, while competing at a high level during the regular season and Missouri Valley Conference competitions."

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships ¬¬in their respective events. A record total of 357 student-athletes representing 118 institutions compose the group.

Krapf qualified for the 2010 NCAA West Regional in the 10,000-meter run, where he ran the event in a time of 30:23.91 and finished in 24th place. The Danville, Ill., native earned All-MVC honors by placing third in the 10,000-meter run at the MVC Conference Championships. Krapf was also named a 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete.

During the indoor season, Jensen finished in the top-10 four times in the shot put event. The freshman recorded a personal best in the event at the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Indoor Championships, where he recorded a throw of 55-00.75 and finished in sixth place.

The Colona, Ill., native qualified to compete in the 2010 NCAA West Regional in the shot put, after finishing fifth with a career-best throw of 55-07.50 at the 2010 State Farm MVC Outdoor Championships.
