Women's Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named the Illinois State women's track & field team one of 171 All-Academic teams for the 2012 season, as announced by officials Thursday.

The women's team posted a 3.11 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) during the 2012 spring semester, which ranks 41st among all team GPAs at the Division I level.

Arkansas earned the Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year honors, finishing tied for fifth place at the NCAA Indoor Championships, while holding a cumulative 3.18 team GPA.

Stanford earned the Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year, placing sixth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, while compiling a 3.26 cumulative team GPA.

To be eligible for this honor, teams must have at least a 3.00-cumulative team GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, and place high among other competitors.
