Glover Takes Fifth, Former Redbirds Wrap Up Competition

NORMAL, Ill. – Recent graduate Tim Glover finished fifth in the javelin, with a throw of 249-3 at the USA Track and Field Championships, this past Sunday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

The three-time All-American advanced to the final round of eight, with a throw of 249-3 (75.97m) on his first attempt. However, he failed to better that mark and finished the competition in fifth-place.

Aisha Praught, current member of the Oregon Track Club, finished sixth in her preliminary heat with a time of 10:02.67, qualifying for the final round of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Praught ran 10:17.32 in the finals to finish 11th overall. Elsewhere, Leigh Petranoff did not advance to the javelin finals, as she finished 12th with a throw of 156-10 (47.81m).

Curtis Jensen also did not make the final cut, finishing 12th in the shot put, with a throw of 62-1 (18.92m). Brittany Smith passed on her three attempts in the hammer throw competition due to injury.

Recent graduates Sade Sealy and Fabian Norgrove earned national titles this past weekend, as they competed in the Barbados National Track and Field Championships.

Sealy outpaced her competition in the qualifying round of the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.19, easily advancing to the final round. The current Missouri Valley Conference record-holder finished with a time of 53.05, almost two seconds ahead of second-place.

Sealy is also in position to qualify for the World Championships this summer having hit the “B” standard in the 400-meter dash at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships with a time of 52.01. Final lists of athletes competing in the World Championships will be available July 20, 2013.

Norgrove earned national titles in both the 400-meter and 800-meter events. With a time of 48.42 in the qualifying round of the 400-meter dash, Norgrove sat on top of the leaderboard going into the finals. The St. Phillips, Barbados native finished first with a time of 47.06. Norgrove also notched a first-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.34.
