NORMAL, Ill. – A quartet of former Redbird track & field members head to Des Moines, Iowa, June 20-23, to compete in the 2013 USA Senior and Junior Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium.

Recent graduates Brittany Smith and Tim Glover, are both coming off second-place finishes at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Throwing the second-best mark of her career at 224-09 (68.51m) in the hammer throw, Smith earned her ninth All-American honor. The Oak Park, Ill., native also tossed a season-best 58-06.75 (17.85m) in the shot put to earn her a 10th All-American accolade and a fourth runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships in the past two years.

Glover earned his third straight All-American honor in his final event as a Redbird with a throw of 247-06 (75.44m) in the javelin, just shy of the 255-09 (77.95m) first-place throw by Sam Humphreys (Texas A&M).

Along with Smith and Glover, Aisha Praught and Leigh Petranoff, two 2012 Illinois State track and field graduates, qualified to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and javelin, respectively.

A Redbird track and field standout, Praught was the 2012 NCAA Division I runner-up in the indoor mile, running a 4:39.85, which was just nine-hundredths of a second shy of first-place. The All-American was a two-time national qualifier her senior year, and posted the best finish on the track by a distance runner since Christian Goy won the NCAA title in the indoor mile in 2002.

Petranoff concluded her Illinois State career in 2012 as a three-time regional qualifier, finishing sixth at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2011. She holds every Redbird and Missouri Valley Conference record in the javelin along with claiming four-consecutive conference titles.

Redbird fans wishing to follow Glover, Smith, Praught and Petranoff will be able to watch nearly all the action from the four-day meet via USATF’s new web platform USATF.TV. Fans can also turn to ESPN2, Universal Sports, NBC Sports Network and NBC to catch the action. The official Twitter account of ISU track and field will also have complete coverage.
