NORMAL, Ill. - After posting a third-place finish at the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, four members of the Illinois State women's track & field team will be competing in last chance meets this weekend, in hopes of qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Arkansas, March 8-9.

Sade Sealy will travel to Arkansas to run the 400-meter dash at the Arkansas Final Qualifier, while Rachael Brewer, Kelly McShea and Kristen Zillmer will travel to Notre Dame to compete in the Alex Wilson Invitational. Zillmer will compete in the 800-meter run, while Brewer and McShea will each run in the mile.

Last weekend, Sealy sprinted herself into the history books, winning her fourth-straight Valley title in the 400-meter dash, posting a season-best time of 54.14, ranking her 24th in the nation. She is one of three people to win four conference titles in the 400-meter dash, and only the second person to win four straight. She has now won the last seven MVC titles in the event combined between the indoor and outdoor season. She is just the second Redbird to win four titles in one event, as Nave Wilson did so in the 600-meter run (1986-89).

If that wasn't enough, Sealy also found herself on the podium with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, sprinting to a personal-best time of 24.61, before run the anchor leg on the champion 4X400-meter relay team. She helped the women's team to 28 points at the conference championships.

Much like Sealy and the women's sprinters, the women's distance crew posted a team-high 69 points at the Valley Championships. Brewer ran herself to three top-three finishes, including a first-place finish in the mile, after running down eight-time All-American Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton of Wichita State down on the final stretch, posting a personal-best time of 4:49.13. She tallied a total of 28 points through the three individual events she competed in. McShea also found herself on the podium, posting two top-three finishes in the mile and 3,000-meter run. Her time of 4:49.68 in the mile and 9:44.48 in the 3,000-meter run were both personal-bests and good enough for third place and a total of 12 points for the team.

Zillmer also scored a chunk of the points, as she competed in the 800-meter run, distance medley relay and the mile. After a tough first night in the distance medley relay having to run down six girls on the last leg to finish second in the event, Zillmer came back the next day to finish fourth in the mile and second in the 800-meter run, before running the third leg on the 4X400-meter relay. Combined across all her events, Zillmer helped the team to 31 points. The trio combined for a total of 53 points, individually across the distance events.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, either one of the four above will have to find themselves ranked in the top-16 nationally at the end of this weekend.
