NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's and No. 25-ranked women's track & field teams head to Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday, for the ninth renewal of the Coughlan-Malloy Cup Series against Indiana State at the Rose-Hulman Sports and Recreation Center. Competition is slated to begin a 12:30 p.m. (ET) with the field events, with track competition to follow at 1:15 p.m. (ET).

Head track & field coach Elvis Forde is excited to get things rolling after the long holiday break.

"The first meet after a break is always a challenge," Forde said. "The teams have been working hard and all we ask of them is to compete with a good solid effort."

The women's competition features a duel between two top-25 teams in the latest NCAA Division I power rankings, as the Sycamores hold down the No. 18 spot. This battle features two of the nation's top throwers, as ISU's Brittany Smith finished third (68-06.50/20.89m) in the weight throw at the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, one spot ahead of Indiana State's Felisha Johnson, who took fourth (67-0.00/20.52m). Johnson currently holds the top-spot in the nation in both the shot put (57-03.75/17.47m) and the weight throw (75-03.25/22.94m), while Smith holds the No. 2 spot in the weight throw (70-07.00/21.51m) and the No. 5 spot in the shot put (54-06.00/16.61m).

"Brittany and Felisha are two of the best throwers in the nation," Forde said. "Both are great competitors and should highlight the meet. They could easily split both events (shot put and weight throw) and it should be exciting to watch."

This meet will also be the indoor debut for the two-time defending women's Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship distance squad. All-Valley and All-Midwest Region runner Rachael Brewer will toe the line in 3,000-meter run and the mile. Kristen Zillmer will take on the mile and 800-meter run, alongside Kim Christensen and Kelly McShea, who both were all-conference during the cross country season.

Six-time defending MVC Champion in the 400-meter dash Sade Sealy will take to the blocks for the first time this season in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, while teammate Printassia Johnson looks to build off a strong freshman season and an early December performance in the 60- and 200-meter dashes.

On the men's side, Coty Kramer will take on the 200- and 400-meter dashes, while Tyler Rippel will start in the 800-meter run. As for the distance events, Tyler Morse will run the mile, while All-Valley performer in cross country, Ryan Rutherford toes the line in the 3,000-meter run.
